Take care of what you love.

Our Services

Let us take care of it for you.

  • Our most popular service, this package is a comprehensive maintenance service according to your scooter's factory-prescribed service schedule. Book an appointment, please!

A flat rate tune-up is comprehensive maintenance service performed in accordance to your scooter's factory prescribed maintenance schedule. Typically, this includes the following services as needed:

    • Safety review

    • Oil/transmission fluid/gearbox oil change

    • Spark plug replacement

    • Carburetor cleaning

    • Air filter cleaning/replacement

    • Wheel alignment

    • Chain/belt inspection, adjustment, and lube

    • Cable adjustment and lube

    • Controls inspection and adjustment (brakes, throttle, choke, clutch, etc)

    • Ignition system inspection

    • Suspension inspection

    • Fuel system inspection

    • Tire pressure

    • A quick polish

    • A list of recommendations for any additional parts/services that may be required

    • A 1-2 mile joy ride (test ride) to ensure everything is running as it should

Any labor beyond what is covered in the tune-up is charged according to our $90/hr labor rate. Any parts that need to be replaced are pay-as-you-go.

  • Available at $90/hr, as needed. At the time of your service appointment, we'll help to determine exactly what parts & services you require, then provide an estimate including cost and lead time. We'll take care of it from there. Appointments are strongly preferred - please book here.

In the case of general diagnostics and repairs, when exact services required are not completely known or estimated at the time of your service drop off appointment, we will carry out diagnostics and perform necessary repairs to render a reliable, great-running moped. Unless otherwise noted, we will not confer with the customer unless repairs are expected to exceed $299 including parts and labor. If your budget does not accommodate our standard “Do Not Exceed” (DNE) policy, please make note of this at the time of your service appointment.

Our DNE Policy is informed by the following notions:

Our customers bring us their mopeds with the expectation that, on completion of services, their moped will be running great, reliable, and safe.

As experienced professionals, our goal is to provide services that will render a moped in great-running, reliable, safe condition. Your goals and our goals are the same. We are here to provide exactly what parts & services you need - nothing more, nothing less. We are not here to charge you for parts and services you do not require. This seems obvious to us, but sometimes we feel it needs saying.

We ask our customers to trust us and grant a fair amount of autonomy when it comes to making the right decisions about repairs on their moped. To enable an efficient, streamlined workflow, there is little room for frequent “check-ins” or conferences. We can work most efficiently, provide the best pricing, and quickest turnaround times if we are able to get your moped up on the service lift, perform diagnostics, make some decisions, perform some repairs, do some testing, then call you to let you know its complete.

-$299 tends to cover the most frequently required parts and services, while also matching the vast majority of our customers’ budgets. If you have a budget that differs from our default DNE policy, please notify us at the time of your service appointment.

  • If you need work done quickly. Please refer to General Services & Repairs for more information on our work and policies.

  • We can tweak a bit more out of your stock Honda engine. A detailed write-up is available here. Briefly, our upgrade package includes

    • Carburetor tuning - increased fuel and air flow

    • Transmission tuning - push your RPMs higher

    • Derestricted ignition - Bypass the RPM limiter to fully enjoy the power your engine is capable of making

This package is $550 installed, includes parts and labor. This cost does not cover any service or repairs required to support such an upgrade (oil changes, tire changes, parts repairs, etc). Recommended supporting services to be discussed at time of appointment.

  • We can deal with grease, oil, and fumes all day long... but that biological mess on your scooter - clean it up!

We charge $120/hr to service any scooter with non-incidental amounts of mold, mildew, insect/rodent infestations, bodily fluids, etc. The additional cost covers necessary safety gear and waste disposal fees.

  • Flushing a fuel tank is nasty business, so we try to avoid performing this service however we can. If a fuel tank is completely contaminated with water, diesel fuel, severely depreciated fuel, etc, we must complete eliminate these contaminates from your fuel tank. This service is not a rust-treatment and re-lining service. This service covers specifically removing contaminants from a fuel tank to render a fuel-friendly and usable fuel tank.

This service charge covers the cost of draining the fuel tank, flushing it several times with fresh fuel, cleaning and servicing fuel system downstream of fuel tank, plus storage and disposal of hazardous materials (fuels, solvents, contaminants, chemicals, etc).

  • Moped and scooter engines are well built and reliable machines, but sometimes engines are just "shot" — be it from abuse, neglect, or just many happy miles. An engine rebuild is a comprehensive overhaul that will ensure that your engine is in tip-top shape and will run for many, many more of those happy miles. This service is usually not required except in the worst cases of engine disrepair.

    Rebuilds include:

    • Crankshaft bearing replacement

    • Primary drive bearing replacement

    • New gaskets for top and bottom end

    • New oil seals

    Rebuilds for the following engines:

    • Chinese GY6/QMB139 or similar - $390

    • Puch E50 single speed - $300

    • Tomos A3/A35/A55 - $300

    • Motobecane AV7/AV10 - $300

    • Sachs 504/505 - $300

    • Jawa 210 - $300

    • Minarelli V1 - $300

    • Honda PA50I/II - $300

    • Conventional configuration QMB139 top-end (piston, cylinder, head, gaskets, etc) rebuild - $275

These flat rates are for engine IN HAND only. Port City Mopeds can remove and reinstall your engine for you at our rate of $90/hr.

  • Storing your scooter for seasonal storage is not as simple as just parking it and letting it sit. You should store your scooter in a temperature-stable, dry location, while also maintaining your battery and fuel system. You can do that at home, or let us take care of it for you.

Our Winter Storage service is $60/month, and includes space in our dry, temperature controlled warehouse - fuel treatment and battery maintenance - and the option for a discounted Tune-Up Service ($150, down from $195) when you pick it up in Spring.

We bill at a rate of $60/month, billed MONTHLY. Your scooter can be removed at any time - please provide 72 hrs notice. We have a “soft” removal date of April 15th - after that date, we may need you to come retrieve your scooter.

Moped Pickup/Storage Policy:

We're always limited on space, and do our best to work very quickly to get your moped serviced and back in your hands in as little time as possible.  We hope that our customers can also work just as quickly to come pick up mopeds after notification that service is completed.  To emphasize the importance of this policy, Port City Mopeds reserves the right to apply a $30/day storage fee to mopeds left in our facility starting 3 days after the original notification of completion of services.  Don't worry - we don't want to apply this fee to anyone - we can work with you as you correspond promptly and schedule a pickup date within a reasonable timeframe from the notification of completion of services.

Make sure to review the Port City Mopeds In-House Warranty, including 300-mile first service, before booking your appointment.
